Prof. Dr. med. Dr. phil. Haferlach is a specialist for internal medicine, haematology and oncology. In 2005, he founded the leukaemia laboratory Münchner Leukämielabor GmbH (MLL) in Munich. Here, he is the head of the cytomorphology department. After getting his PhD and MD, he worked as a senior physician at the university hospitals of Kiel, Göttingen and Munich-Großhadern for several years and got a postdoctoral qualification in internal medicine with a focus on haematology and internal oncology. Before founding MLL, Professor Haferlach was the head of the laboratory for special leukaemia diagnostics at Ludwig Maximilian University of Munich. At Sysmex Diagnostic Forum, he will be chairman and host of the series of talks on “Malignancies”.
Prof. Dr. med. Andreas Huber worked as chief physician and clinical haematologist at the Institute of Laboratory Medicine at Kantonspital Aarau in Switzerland for 23 years and actively promoted the interests of the hospital as the President of the Physicians’ Association, Deputy CEO and Member of the Board of Directors. Prof. Huber co-founded the hospital’s research council and research association to support clinical research. Since mid-2018, he is a Senior Consultant to the institute. His list of publications includes several top-class titles. At Sysmex Diagnostic Forum, he will be the chairman and host of the block of talks on “Anaemia diagnostics”.
Dr. Hans Georg Mustafa is a specialist for medical-chemical laboratory diagnostics and has been a managing partner of Medizinisch-chemisches Labor Dr. Mustafa, Dr. Richter OG since 2008. From 1983-1989, Dr. Mustafa studied medicine and got his MD. He then worked as the medical director of Dr. Holzer GmbH before he founded the Labor Dr. Mustafa in 1999. In addition, he is the president of Österreichische Gesellschaft für Laboratoriumsmedizin und klinische Chemie. At Sysmex Diagnostic Forum, he will be the chairman and host of the block of talks on “Digitalisation & Automation”.
Prof. Dr. Andre van der Ven is infectious diseases specialist and Professor International Health at the Radboud University Medical Center in Nijmegen (Netherlands). His research interests focusses on infectious diseases such as dengue fever, malaria and HIV. He completed his medical education with distinction at the Universities of Ghent and Antwerp. He then received with distinction a Diploma in Tropical Medicine and Hygiene from the Leopold Institute Antwerp. After working as a "tropical doctor" in Botswana for nearly six years, he completed internal medicine and infectious disease training at Radboud University Medical Center. He received his doctorate with distinction in 1995 with the title "Side Effects of Cotrimoxazole in HIV Infection". He then spent five years as a lecturer at the University Hospital Maastricht and returned to Radboud University Medical Center as head of Infectious Diseases Division and head the Nijmegen Institute for International Health. At the Sysmex Diagnostic Forum, he will moderate the session "Infectious Diseases" as Chairman.
